Fillets will be glued into side, and top panels, for that reason I
had to cut panels with a 3,2x4mm stripe. This is done by using the
pre-sawing blade on my table saw, as pictured right.

Fillets are made of solid Mahogany, and glued into the pre-cut holes. After
this is done, the surplus is sanded till a smooth surface is made. On the
front edges of the baffle, I also made Mahogany fillets.

Pre-assembled X-over boards are made on a 4mm triplex scratch plate.
It can just enter the woofer hole, as can be seen below.
X-overs are poured in 2-component resin, to elimenate
vibrations.
The drivers are mounted with black coated M4x16 mm button head
socket screws. Which I will turn into metal inserts.

Today (23 september 2008) I received the Seas Excel drivers W15CY-001
and mounted them into the enclosures. The tweeters will be purchaged
next...

The bass reflex pipe measures 46 x 110 mm>>>
X-overs are mounted on the
rear panel, and will fit just between the bass reflex port and the bottom
plate. The X-overs are covered with MDM-3 damping material, and I filled
approximately 1/3 of the inner volume of the cabinets with it. Avoid closing
the bass port!
Today (2 oktober 2008) my 3/4" Soft Dome Hiquphon tweeters arrived.
This OW1 tweeters ,are matched within 0,5dB from 2-20kHz, and have
their own serial number. This is a true High-End tweeter, with
excellent qualities. They come with original data curves, as part of
the package.
Mechanical data, slightly smaller then common
tweeters:
OD: 94mm ID: 68.5mm Flange:3.7mm
After removal of the safety labels, the loudspeakers are ready for use....Now
it's time to build some nice looking stands for these monitors.
I've made a pair of stands, made of 2 solid aluminum pipes, mounted on
solid aluminum plates. Ad 2 Mahogany sheets of wood, and laque'd the metal
stands black, and give the Mahogany a clear varnish surface.
Height:
665mm
Depth: 270mm
Widht: 210mm
Weight: 9 kg/each
On the local DIY market I found these conic cups made of brass. Just what I
needed to mount underneath the bottom plates, to use as spikes. Outer
diameter measures 16mm.
The clear varnish layers, just give these woods a
nice warm appearance....
Loudspeaker cabinets measure HxDxW=300x250x190mm
Weight: 8 kg/each
When I sold my walnut version of this monitor loudspeaker, I knew I would
build a second pair of these gorgeous sounding speakers one day...
Well,
this is it, packed in a light colored Maple coat, in combination with
Mahogany fillets. You may have notished, I love this wood combination, as I
used to build many cabinets out of this combination.
For those who are interested in building this loudspeaker, I have some (empty)
cabinets for sale. Mainly build out of Walnut, and Cherry. Please feel free
to ask on details.
Thanks for visiting!
